Ramirez leaves game with left shoulder sprain

Red Sox left fielder Hanley Ramirez left Monday's game against Tampa Bay in the first inning with an apparent arm injury after crashing into the left field side wall at Fenway Park.

Ramirez ran down a fly ball to left off the bat of James Loney in the top of the first inning and took a few steps before slamming into the wall with his left shoulder. The ball popped out of Ramirez' glove and Loney reached second with a double.

Team trainers tended to Ramirez immediately and he was removed from the game.

The Red Sox announced Ramirez suffered a left shoulder sprain. He has a history of trouble with his left shoulder, which has been operated on twice since 2007.
